What do I stand to loose?

My parish pastor was discussing the daily devotional with us, the other day in church. In the process, he said something that struck me. He said a friend of his was questioning the essence of God, asking many "what ifs" and that, after all the "faith/salvation/race running, there is no kingdom of God? And he answered, saying "what do i stand to lose". That struck me.

Really, what do we have to lose? It took me back to the time when my fellowship president then in school talked about the sin of disobedient. I thought about it. Most churches have their general doctrine and as well distinct doctrines, based on the calling of the leaders. Now a particular church says it's a sin to put on trousers as a female or grow your beard as a male and then you start arguing, stating that it isn't biblical. Someone then asked what if we get to heaven on the last day and find out all of these were not in any way a sin. And it was answered, what do you stand to lose at that point? Absolutely NOTHING. But what if it is a sin? Then You loose everything.
I believe in this salvation race, the Holy Spirit is your ultimate guide. Jesus is our perfect example of how we should live our lives here on earth. But every church has got their doctrines in order to put us in check. Per adventure, on judgement day, you discover most things you were told not to do are not in any way a sin before God and not doing them arn't a sin either, i don't think you will loose but imagine if it is. We all know what that means. So, next time you feel uncomfortable with a church doctrine, just Obey or in my opinion, go to a church with a "comfortable" doctrine. Only remember that all doctrine should be biblical and edifying not one to cut you off from your creator without you knowing.
