Generalization Tuesday

Hello,

I read a post recently on facebook which i'd rather term a rant. The writer was talking about how "all Nigerian Pastors" now talk about sowing of seeds as the only means to being successful and how the likes of Bill gates, Dangote, Alan Paul etc. all worked so hard to get to where they are today.
I didn't have any problem with his rants, where my issue came was his generalization. All Nigerian Pastors? Really? This is another issue we are having as people, as a nation. We are so quick to generalize things or situations.

For one, i know of pastors who encourages their congregants to be hardworking in where ever they find themselves. Be it working for someone or being an entrepeneur. Just be DELIGENT, they will tell you.
The fact that you see one or two "pastors" who would cajole people into sowing seeds all the time just to be rich doesn't mean we should generalize all pastors calling them names. Ha. Thank God for God's Grace and mercy and as well for Jesus coming down to die for us. Since his crucification on the cross that unavoidably tore the veil, Grace has been given to us freely. But trust humans, we are all taking it for granted. These kind of writeups are the ones that can kindle God's anger against the wrier. Remember Miriam in Numbers 12? It is by His Grace that we are not consumed but let's not take it for granted.
So tell me, which fallacy of generalization do you know of and how did you debunk them. Maybe we should make this topic a weekly thing and learn a thing or two, yea?

Unfinished Hairstyle!

Happy Sunday Beautiful People! How was service?

This hair struggle is real and motherhood isn't helping at all, er...but i wouldn't change it for anything in the world. Okay lemme nor lie, if i have got the means, i'd change somethings but that's story for another day. All in all, am grateful to God for the priveledge and gift.
So the other day i decided to give my hair a little treat after about 3months. The last time i deep conditioned my hair was in may and i realised my hair was breaking. I took out my all natural moisturising shampoo and conditioner. Am among those that think we are the ones doing the right thing by using fruits and veggies for our hair, meanwhile we have other reasons o *shines teeth*
So i finally gave my hair the much needed treat and i planned on having a twist-out. My mum helped me to braid my hair into 10 sections, did i tell you my mum makes the second tightest braids ever?. My aunt makes the tighest, ouch. Thinking about it now, i feel the pain, lol. After carrying the twist for about 4days, i unraveled and just when i was about to seperate and fluff, Baby Kay insisted on getting his food, i had to pause and do the needful. You all wouldn't guess what happened next.

I took the photo above and decided against fluffing. I just wanted to enjoy the hair as it is and i think it turned out nice. hehehehehehe.

The natural hair struggle is definitely real.
For my natural hair sisters, ever forgotten to or deliberately not complete a hairstyle?

What do I stand to loose?

My parish pastor was discussing the daily devotional with us, the other day in church. In the process, he said something that struck me. He said a friend of his was questioning the essence of God, asking many "what ifs" and that, after all the "faith/salvation/race running, there is no kingdom of God? And he answered, saying "what do i stand to lose". That struck me.

Really, what do we have to lose? It took me back to the time when my fellowship president then in school talked about the sin of disobedient. I thought about it. Most churches have their general doctrine and as well distinct doctrines, based on the calling of the leaders. Now a particular church says it's a sin to put on trousers as a female or grow your beard as a male and then you start arguing, stating that it isn't biblical. Someone then asked what if we get to heaven on the last day and find out all of these were not in any way a sin. And it was answered, what do you stand to lose at that point? Absolutely NOTHING. But what if it is a sin? Then You loose everything.
I believe in this salvation race, the Holy Spirit is your ultimate guide. Jesus is our perfect example of how we should live our lives here on earth. But every church has got their doctrines in order to put us in check. Per adventure, on judgement day, you discover most things you were told not to do are not in any way a sin before God and not doing them arn't a sin either, i don't think you will loose but imagine if it is. We all know what that means. So, next time you feel uncomfortable with a church doctrine, just Obey or in my opinion, go to a church with a "comfortable" doctrine. Only remember that all doctrine should be biblical and edifying not one to cut you off from your creator without you knowing.

Mom's Corner: Expensive doesn't mean Ideal

Right now, i feel so mad at myself!

You know those times you tend to buy stuffs and when you hear/see the price, it feels so expensive but you go right ahead to buy it because either you like it or time is not on your side to start looking for something cheaper. And other times you feel it's original and therefore would last longer because it's costly? Well, i have come to realise that it doesn't always turn out that way.
When i was pregnant and it was time for shopping, i was excited. And no, i didn't go overboard out of excitement. All i did was buy every single item on my hospital list and that's my anger right now. The hospital didn't try for me at all. Imagine just using only 20% of all the items i was asked to bring when labour starts. To think the nurse taking us through the ante-natal class said it was compulsory to get every single items on the list else, they would not attend the pregnant lady.
Now that i think of it, how is it possible to carry out such a threat? Well, they say experience is the best teacher; i have definitely learnt that expensive doesn't always mean it's ideal.
A lot of the items i bought didn't last a minute, some weren't even what Baby Kay needed, i ended up buying something way cheaper but was perfectly what he needed at the time.
So tell me, ever bought something you felt was too pricey and at the same time didn't serve it's purpose?
