Be Careful What You Wish For

Hello there,
How are you guys?......each time i use the word "Guys", i remember my mother. Anytime mama hears me say guys, especially when am referring to her and papa, she would be like, "hmmm, Oma, so we are now mates that you insult us?" *blank stare* huh??? Insult ke??? since when???? I have heard a lot of parents complain about this, even some ladies, cutting you short whenever you call them guys. Wait o.....na say i say "how are you guys", bring all this talk? Ha! Oya, how are you people? lol.....But really, is calling elders, parents and ladies, guys, an insult? Please lemme know in the comment section. Tanchu so musshhhh.....

It got me thinking, why is the phrase "Be careful what you wish for" attributed to neative stuffs only? I say, "i wish for an american lottery", people would say wishful thinking or shrud it aside with "you wish". I say, "i wish Goldstar would buy me a Royce Rolls (yay me...i remember the name of a car) just as Steve Harvey, "hahaha, you wish", would be their reply. I wish my soft invisible beards would grow out more, "Be careful what you wish for". I want to get a mansion by the time i attain silver jubilee......"hahahaha...you wish".

Why do "i wish" for the positive things and should "be careful what i wish for" on the negative things. Just why???

They say, there is power in our tongue. Why then do people not believe in the realization of the positive remarks we make but believes in the negative ones. Why????

P.S: Nothing would give me greater pleasure than knowing your thoughts as well. Your comments are always welcomed....keep them coing! I would always reply, i promise.

Lots of Love,
Oma!

  2. Lol. My dear, In Nigeria, calling elders "guys" is an insult o. We think respect in the "ma" and "sir" greeting. Anyway, you just got an award. Visit http://amakamedia.blogspot.com/2014/12/sisterhood-award.html?m=1

  3. Really liked this post.
    So honest.
For me "be careful what you wish for" means not forgetting the life you have now and being grateful for it, because some things might change if your wish came true.

  4. Great write-up; I enjoyed reading it. I think It's better to just say "you" rather than adding "guys" to it even if you are referring to multiple people. It's a bit polite that way or you can just say "you all." I guess everyone is guilty of using you guys..:-) you can't help it sometimes.
I'll rather use my mouth to wish and proclaim positive things because of the powerful nature of words.

    Long comment; I know....
    Have a great week.
